Lower Charles River Basin declared a menace to people, pets

The Charles River Watershed Association this afternoon issued a public-health advisory for the Charles River from the Mass. Ave. Bridge to the Museum of Science due to a bloom of the dreaded cyanobacteria:

We are officially issuing a public health advisory for toxic blue-green algae found at sites from the Mass Ave Bridge to the Museum of Science. Boaters should avoid contact with water. Do not let your dogs swim in this area, cyanobacteria blooms are toxic to pets.
