Police say man arrested when he goes to station to reclaim car - which they'd earlier seized in Mattapan after finding it filled with fireworks with a loaded gun on top

Boston Police report officers at the B-3 police station arrested Darrell Brown, 31, of Randolph, yesterday afternoon when he showed up to reclaim his car - one of two that officers seized on Saturday on Astoria Street.

When those officers arrived on Astoria Street Saturday evening in response to fireworks complaints, they found two cars loaded with fireworks. The owner of one car, Wesley Pereira, 25, of Dorchester, was arrested on gun charges after police say they found a loaded gun on him, but the owner of the second car was nowhere to be found, until yesterday.

Brown was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition, police say.

Innocent, etc.

These fireworks shooting losers are the dumbest of the dumb. Some fellow dumb people defend them saying “it’s just kids blowing off steam.” This loser is 31! Not a kid, but an armed criminal.

First of all having a fun doesn’t make you are criminal so that is not a fair statement to make. It is unlawful to have an unlicensed gun in one’s possession. You do not know if that is the case here and having and unlicensed gun doesn’t make you a criminal either. You don’t have to be a kid to like burning fireworks. Adults love doing it and it’s really safer for adults to burn handle them anyway. Someone who is planning any criminal activity don’t usually use fireworks and a lot of people are licensed to carry guns. I l believe in MA most people need to have it concealed though.

Once they're done with it for evidence purposes, can the City sell the stuff to a legal out of state dealer and recoup some of the police "defunding"?

Due to the hazards involved with handling fireworks, they'll be destroyed.

I sure as (expletive) hope not.

Cute idea. Let's have the police sell mortars to fund their remilitarization.

Sorry that you don't get the concept you are pretending to deride, though. You might be smart enough to do the research if you really wanted to learn something.

I would like to thank this community for initiating the complaint of fireworks to law enforcement.

I would like to thank the offices from Area B3 for their ongoing commitment to public safety and making these arrests.

The arrest of one of these individuals is a very very significant arrest.

This individual has been shot at multiple times, has been shot himself and has been arrested in the past where firearms were present. Great Job Law Enforcement.
