Red Sox: Yes, we have racist fans

The Red Sox yesterday responded to news that Torii Hunter insisted his contracts had a clause to keep him from being traded to Boston because of the racists here with a simple statement:

Followed by a longer statement that, yes, a "small group of fans" are indeed racist shits, not just to visiting players but to minority Fenway workers, despite the best - and continuing - efforts of the team to root them out.

Thank you Sox for not trying to obfuscate
It's worth clicking through to the Red Sox tweet responding to this. They don't deny the problem. They say they work to stop it happening but that there's still more work to do. Sox management is not responsible for the existence of such fans, but they are responsible for not tolerating it at Fenway and it sounds like they take that responsibility seriously (hopefully in actions, not just words).

I was at a game and two mouth-breathers dropped some racist shit about a couple of Indian-American guys sitting nearby. They just let it roll off of them, but I told the usher what they said and they got security and tossed them out immediately.

I have no doubt there are racist fans in the stands at Fenway. What I don't understand is how other ballparks manage to keep racists out. I can't believe Fenway is the only park where this kind of thing happens.

Fenway is obviously not the
Fenway is obviously not the only place, but enough people have said it's the single worst place for long enough that mentioning other places really comes off as just a deflection.
I'd guess other places don't have different methods for keeping racists out, and that it's probably more that racists (or vocal racists, at least) are simply less likely to attend games in other places. Maybe we have more racists here, or our racists are more willing to shout it out loud, or our racists like baseball more, or racists from elsewhere in the region are more likely to come here to see the only MLB team in New England. Just a few possibilities.
