That's pretty dense housing, isn't it? With communal bathrooms, etc...? They must be busting their ass to keep everything sanitized and everyone in there safe.

Dense, i'm not sure if that's the right word but we can go with that. Former resident here...lived at the Y for almost 4 years. You've got community programs like Cardinal Mederos for people in recovery, Families in Transition (FIT) for new moms and their babies and then you have Huntington House. The HH aspect of the Y are SROs, everyone in their SRO has their own bathroom, kitchenette, bed and dresser. Not everyone in SROs is elderly or disabled; some people who live at the Y are single parents or college students like I was trying to create a stepping stone to be able to get housing and move on.

Hallkeen took over Huntington House (HH) in 2013 & ever since theyve taken over it's been a shitshow...the "property managers" never seem to be able to stay longer than a year. Once Hallkeen took over, the Y got rid of 90% of their maitenance men as well as Ware Security who used to do a great job making sure the building was secure along w/their residents. I think a lot of these changes could also be contributed to Northeastern now owning half of the Y....all the Y sees is $$$ and the Y staff along w/Hallkeen staff don't care about their residents. I personally can tell you when I was sexually assaulted by my former neighbor in 2012 and I reported it to Wendy Zinn, Zinn never asked if I was ok or if i needed help she just said "well if what youre saying is true and you dont feel safe call the police". Ive hated that biotch ever since.

So the Y yes has gone downhill since 2013 esp with Hallkeen Management. With everything else ive mentioned theres also issues like mold, the old ventilation system that hasnt worked in decades and people getting these little cysts on their bodies from little bugs that seem to be all over the 5th 6th and 7th floors. The HH program needs a complete overhaul.

The Y went downhill when Northeastern demolished 1/2 of it.
