Resident rescued from Mattapan apartment fire

The Boston Fire Department reports firefighters responded to 20 Fairlawn Ave. for a fire on the second floor around 7:10 p.m.

One resident was rescued from the fire, which was contained to a single apartment, the department says, adding that resident and a firefighter were taken to a local hospital for observation. A total of four people were displaced by the fire, which did an estimated $100,000 in damage, the department says.

I would like everybody to pray for my friend and his loved ones, is currently in the hospital being Boston Strong. Tears.

Without revealing my friend's identity, I will say this much, he has saved and changed countless amount of individuals lives for the better. He is one of those unsung heroes; who quietly goes about his life and his work saving and changing the lives how many Bostonians lives.

My heart is even more broken. May GOD continue to be with my friend.

In the list of the greatest athletes in Boston, Firefighters never get mentioned. The men and women of the fire department have to be as agile as gymnasts, combined with the strength of football players and the fearlessness of hockey players.
