All Somerville schools, libraries to be shut through the weekend after three residents test positive for coronavirus

Somerville announced tonight its shutting all of its public schools and library branches and the Somerville Boxing Club for a week after three residents linked to that Biogen meeting tested positive for Covid-19.

The city had initially said it would just shout the West Somerville Community School for two days of cleaning after one of the three, the spouse of a teacher at the school, tested positive. But tonight, officials say, they learned that a parent of a student at the East Somerville Community School had also tested positive.

The third case is in a resident with no apparent connection to local schools.

In addition to schools and libraries, the city has also cancelled all Parks and Recreation programs.
