Three arrested for minding the Gap in Downtown Crossing

Boston Police report arresting three men way old enough to know better on breaking-and-entering charges Saturday morning after finding two of them allegedly rummaging behind the counter of the Downtown Crossing Gap Outlet store, which is closed because discount denim just isn't considered essential in these trying Covid-19 times.

Michael Hanley, 58, of Cambridge and Simone Costa, 63, and James Wallace, 59, both of Boston, were bagged around 10 a.m. after a "concerned citizen" alerted a member of the local constabulary to three guys inside the store, which the citizen knew was wrong because the store was supposed to be closed.

As the officers approached the storefront at 411 Washington Street, they observed one of the males exiting the building and stopped him to investigate. Officers then made entry to the business where they located and detained two additional suspects who were rummaging through items behind the front counter.

Innocent, etc.

to steal from the Gap (Band) without detection - 10 A.M. is apparently too late...

First, I would like to thank the citizenry for your Eagle Eye observations.

See something, hear something , say something.

"alerted a member of the local constabulary " simply hilarious. I thought I was across the pond.

All three of them should remain in custody until this Coronavirus it is all over.

That these people are Americans. We should all know better not to go out, period, in the middle of a public health emergency.

Good headline. I saw that the 7-11 at the corner of Arch and Summer street has the windows completely boarded up.
