While most nurses are miracle workers, are any hospitals truly out of masks and PPE or just concerned about a future, worst case scenario? The pre-existing record of some nurses organizing protests against President and Mrs. Trump last year justifies a degree of skepticism about reports of a new catastrophe going on. Even Governor Cuomo (D-NY) has admitted, "the facts don't justify the fear." For much needed perspective, Charlie Baker's RMV contributed to kiling more people last June (7 dead) than Coronavirus has killed in MA. With no significant loss of life directly from Corona and most people staying home, life expectancy may actually improve thanks to the virus. Trump's China travel ban has proven a miracle. Time to get back to work.

In short, yes.

If you really want to get into it, it depends on how you define "completely out." I know of a local hospital that was completely out of a specific size of N95 masks at a point in time in the past few days. When the ICU called to their supply department for more, they were told there were none left. I can't speak to whether or not nor how quickly this shortage was remedied but if it happens once, it can happen again.

And they were already practicing measures to conserve their mask supply for days before they ran out, which means they would have run out much sooner if they hadn't adapted their methods in ways that would have absolutely unconscionable just weeks ago.

I dropped off 6 non N-95 masks and some other stuff at health center. They almost cried.
