Why you do, in fact, need to stock up on bottled water in a pandemic

Say, for example, you come home mid-morning and immediately head to the nearest faucet to wash your hands, only to discover that water is shut off on your entire block, and the Boston Water and Sewer workers can only tell you it will be at least a couple of hours before they can restore service. You are going to be mighty glad to be able to crack open a jug of water to be able to tend to your pandemic hygiene regimen, while praying mighty hard that service is restored before toilet issues become unbearable.
