Citizen complaint of the day: That citizen complaint of the day site sucks

We might as well retire - it's all downhill from here now that a disgruntled citizen has filed a 311 complaint about Universal Hub:

The comrades at universalhub are so excited. Everything has been working out perfectly for them. Maybe the city should disassociate with these lunatics. I request that the city archives and every other city agency be banned from all communications. These are radicals!!!

We won’t know where the mystery photo of the day was taken anymore.

I'll express my gratitude, and suggest that Uhub be honored in some way. Anyone else care to follow along?

I demand that every posting on UH begin with a moment of prayer.

... it'd be prudent to start with the satanist congregation from up North, just to avoid the inevitable legal hassle.

up

Never. Their exclusion and ensuing lawsuits are free content.

up
Voting closed 13

Only if the Satanists are excluded.

Every time I click on the comments, I think 'Christ, I hope there's not a Magoo comment.'

AdamB made an extension so you don't have to!

but AdamB is doing the work of (non-denominational) angels.

But I might have to start.

For better or worse, Chrome and Firefox extensions largely use the same APIs, and I think there's a way to automatically convert the extensions for use in the other browser. I haven't looked into this recently, though.

(Even easier would be is if this were written as a Greasemonkey script, which would be portable. If I get half an hour I can write one up...)

How did this person read this?? Associating with lunatics?

Alright, the jig is up, we'll have to disband the whole operation and regroup at the designated spot. It'll take a while to rebuild, but I'm confident we can transpile most of the bots so that they can comment over on the Herald--I mean, the unnamed designated meetup spot--instead.

Can we petition the city to fly the official UHub flag in front of city hall?

up
Voting closed 59

You'd have better luck getting the Uhub convocation recited in City Council chambers.

up
Voting closed 19

No violation found at this time.

with uHub in such a way that it could "disassociate" with it?

It doesn't help that I have no idea of the context in which Swirly's post is quoted. I'm guessing it's BPD-related, but that's just a guess.

Will force me to wear a scarlet U whenever I leave the house.

@Swrrlygirl is famous now: mentioned in Official City of Boston Dispatches no less. That's quite an honor.

Adam, just tell them that the position of hub czar, like postmaster general, is an open-ended appointment to prevent political interference and can only be replaced by appointment from the next acting mayor of Boston. Then mark "incident closed".

up
Voting closed 31

the next acting Czar of Boston. Since nobody knows who that is, or who appoints them, Adam’s title can never be revoked.

Actually, the idea of an appointed Czar is a little self-contradictory. Isn’t the Czar God’s anointed? Doesn’t he do the appointing?

Definitely the funniest complaint of the day, if not the week! If the complainant actually mean it, they need brush up a bit on the US Constitution, starting with Amendment #1. That's actually something you are required to learn about if your weren't born a US citizen and want to become one.

I think this is the same person who has hidden the turkey liberation front because it was too offensive…

Miss TLF!

about that "no Magoo" browser blocker extension, huh

up

(That is, he's still here, right? )

up

I don't mind Magoo. He has a gem every month or so. Swirrly's boomer humor though and story time? See ya.

to add names to the list?

(Nothing wrong with blocking people. Nothing wrong with blocking different people than someone else does. )

at the chrome web store you should be able to install an Advanced profanity Filter. Put the name you want to block in the domain section. It has worked so far for me, buy you might need to play around a bit.

Is that Adam does not freely make accessible stenographic notes of editorial meetings

Nicely done!

I miss that guy. Hopefully he's reading every transcription he could ever want in the next world.

As far as I know, Don Saklad is still inhabiting this world. Anyone know any differently?

... he is, nevertheless, on the side of the angels. Openness in government is a good thing. For a generally progressive state, Massachusetts often ranks at or near the bottom of all states for public access to government info.

Swirly is conspicuously absent from this discussion...

Maybe she filed the complaint on herself as a false flag operation. Sneaky Swirly..

During this season of Thanksgiving, I want to give thanks to Adam and the whole UHub community. Adam prints all the news that’s fit to print from the serious to the mundane; from the tragic to the hilarious. And, the commenters make me chuckle almost daily. I depend on it all to stay informed and reasonably sane. Thank you!

They could have just made an account!

up

The complaint has been marked closed:

Case Noted. Thank you for contacting Boston 311.

But if it's been closed, does that mean UHub no longer exists?

up
Voting closed 3

it never really existed. It can happen, in the Twilight Zone.
