Co-working space in basement of Roslindale Substation to expand into space the beer garden is leaving - and will keep serving beer on weekends

Workstation at the Substation, the quieter of the two tenants in the Roslindale Substation in Roslindale Square announced today that it will be expanding into the cavernous former transformer room that Turtle Swamp Brewing is vacating in September and will continue to run a weekend beer hall and community gathering spot there.

Turtle Swamp announced this week it's shutting down in Roslindale on Sept. 25 because in the age of Covid-19, few people wanted to go to an indoor beer garden.

Workhub at the Substation says it will move upstairs from its current basement location in October. It did not say whose beer it would serve.

We will preserve the community venue and beer tradition that Roslindale has come to love. With weekend beer service, events, and expanded coworking, we recognize - and share! - our neighborhood’s vision for the space as a gathering place. That’s exactly what we are building in The Substation.

The co-working concern opened in what had been a craft-beer store in November, 2020. It says it currently has 30 regular users and has hosted more than 100 other people looking for a temporary office away from home.
