Dorchester man admits he was a dealer in a drug gang; faces 9 1/2 years in federal prison

Winston McGhee, 36, pleaded guilty this week to selling drugs and being a felon in possession of a firearm, in a plea deal that would send him to prison for 9 1/2 years if a judge agrees.

McGhee faces a formal sentencing hearing in Boston federal court on June 10 on his plea to charges related to a federal and local bust of drug dealing in a swath from the Fidelis Way development in Brighton to Mattapan. Some 24 people were arrested in raids last June.

McGhee, arrested at his home on Washington Street in Dorchester, which authorities say doubled as a stash house for widespread drug distribution, pleaded guilty to pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute cocaine and cocaine base and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Last week, another member of the drug operation pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 500 grams of more of cocaine and cocaine base and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

I wonder if he would get a 9 and a half year sentence in a State court

Can you imagine making a "deal" so that you "only" have to spend a decade in prison. What a waste. I wonder what he'd have gotten if he plead not-guilty and was convicted. Kids, don't mess with drugs.
