Hundreds of thousands lose power

Some 407,000 homes and businesses in Massachusetts have lost power as of 6:30 a.m., mainly in the southeastern part of the state, according to the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency, which adds:

Eversource says it could be awhile before it can get to downed power lines because it's just not safe for workers to go up in cherry-picker buckets in high winds.
