For third day in a week, Massachusetts records at least 100 coronavirus deaths

Deaths since Sept. 1

Daily Covid-19 death counts since Sept. 1. Source.

The state today reported 105 daily Covid-19 deaths, part of a rise in Covid-19 death since Sept. 1 that has begun to particularly accelerate over the past month.

Massachusetts reported 118 deaths on Wednesday and 100 last Sunday. Before the past week, the last time the state had seen at least 100 daily deaths from the virus was May 20.

The state reported 2,291 people hospitalized with Covid-19, 416 of them in an ICU - and 258 of those patients on ventilators. On Sept. 1, only 35 people were reported in ICUs with Covid-19 - and only 19 on ventilators.

Is MWRA looking for evidence of the superspreader variant from UK/South Africa in their weekly shitshow roundup?

I'd like to know that as well!

Who was it on here that not all that long ago was trying to claim that deaths in MA had remained at a constant and low daily rate from July onward? It wasn't true when I pushed back against that claim then and it's painfully clearly untrue now.

Remember in the spring when a few people were posting comments on Uhub mocking those of us who were concerned about the coronavirus by saying how much worse the regular seasonal flu was and that we should all get flu shots and our pandemic fears were overblown? Especially bizarre since no one was arguing against getting flu shots, but that's besides the point. Anyone who was paying attention to what was happening in Italy early on in the pandemic knew that this was much more dangerous than the seasonal flu.

...one of our resident covid denialists has been real quiet of late, and I can't help but wonder why.

On or about Election Day was the last time I clock a certain piscine community member. Maybe the ‘rona (or other malady) caught up with him? But I also wonder if Election Day was the end of his contract wit whomever was paying him to astroturf UHub with insane right-wing talking points? (I’m half kidding, but weird how his disappearance coincided with Election Day.)

I’m also curious (nosy) about the dearly deleted Stevil - he was here for years but his account has been deleted. It’s not immediately clear to me how to delete your own account and his laissez-faire approach to Covid was far less egregious than the Covid denialists so it would surprise me if he earned a ban.
