Affordable apartments for senior citizens approved on Hamilton Street in Dorchester
The Zoning Board of Appeal today approved plans by the non-profit VietAID to build a four-story, 36-unit apartment building for senior citizens at 25-33 Hamilton St. in Dorchester.
All of the units would have one bedroom and be about 610 square feet. 20 of the apartments would be rented to people making no more than 60% of the area median income, 7 to people making no more than 50% of that number and 9 to people making no more than 30% of that figure.
The building would have 13 parking spaces.
City Councilors Brian Worrell (Dorchester) Ruthzee Louijeune and Julia Mejia (both at large) supported the proposal, as did state Rep. Liz Miranda.
The BPDA approved the project in January.
