This area has been quite
This area has been quite combustible lately. I happened to be nearby when I saw a number of fire trucks heading up that small street and went to see what was going on. I was told that it started as a rear-deck fire that spread quickly to the rear of that 2-family house and that the occupants escaped safely. It took the firemen some serious effort to get this one under control as flames and smoke kept returning The siding of some surrounding buildings melted away.
This is the 3rd fire of a similar magnitude within a one block radius since last December -all unrelated causes as far as I know. Sadly for the impacted residents, all three places look like they will need some extensive gut renovation before they are made inhabitable again.
