Allston package thief returned to the scene of the crime the next day, which proved to be his undoing, police say

Boston Police report arresting a Dedham man today on charges he was trying to get into a Commonwealth Avenue apartment building the day after he'd stolen "numerous packages" from the same building.

Police say officers responded to 1152 Commonwealth Ave. on a report of a man trying to get inside around 1:30 p.m.

Officers were provided a description of the suspect, and observed him leaving the area. Officers ordered the suspect to stop, which he refused, and attempted to flee. A lengthy foot pursuit ensued and officers were able to place the suspect into handcuffs.

After further investigation, officers determined that the suspect was involved in multiple package thefts the day prior in the area of 1152 Commonwealth Avenue.

Jeremie Rowell, 31, was charged with attempted breaking and entering, receiving stolen property over $1,200, larceny from a building and trespassing, police say.

Innocent, etc.

I wonder if his first alleged theft produced so much good stuff that he couldn't let go of a good thing or if he got so little he simply had to try again?
