Basement erupts in flames on Cushing Avenue in Dorchester, flames travel up building
Boston firefighters are at 105 Cushing Ave., which has multiple apartments and a day care, where what is now a four-alarm fire was reported shortly before 12:50 p.m. Firefighters were ordered out of the building.
The fire rose from the basement to the first and second floors. At 2:05 p.m., Boston Fire Commissioner Paul Burke, now on the scene, ordered a fourth alarm as firefighters were ordered away from two sides of the building after they gave signs of being about to collapse.
