BU picks a new president

BU Today reports the selection of Melissa Gilliam, executive vice president and provost at Ohio State University as the replacement for Robert Brown, who retired as president earlier this year.

In addition to being a leader of the Ohio school, Gilliam is also a research scientist and a physician.

Will B-Tuff be revived?

The groundswell on campus to keep BU football going in the mid-90's was about as big as a 0.7 Richter scale earthquake. Lots of rumbling from alumni and then nothing.

I think the old baseball field is the parking garage behind Planned Parenthood.

is the person who discovered that repeat hits to the head causes Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy. I do not think a football program is feasible any longer.

I personally am curious as to when colleges with existing football/hockey teams realize that they cannot have a football or hockey team destroying the brains of their students on one hand, while bragging about the innovations their shiny new neuroscience departments are making on the other.
