This is why ending vaccination requirements for state and city employees was a terrible idea. The surge can start all over again at any time if people don't bother to get vaccinated.

It's true that existing vaccines aren't as effective at preventing transmission of the latest variants. But that's no reason to give up on vaccine mandates. The vaccine is still helpful, and future vaccines could be as effective as the initial vaccine was on the initial variant.
