Man gets probation after admitting he tied a dog to a shoreline boulder at Revere Beach to drown when the tide came in

A judge yesterday sentenced Elias Pacheco-Osario, 29, to two years of probation after he admitted to leaving his pet, Killer, to drown in 2021 rather than bring the dog to a shelter when he could no longer care for it, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Pacheco-Osario's sentence was actually a year in jail after he admitted to one count of animal cruelty by custodian and one count of dog tethering/confining, but that was suspended on condition he stay out of all trouble, complete an education program for animal abusers and not own any animals during that period, the DA's office reports.

The DA's office provided this summary of the case:

On August 29, 2021 at approximately 12:15 pm, members from Revere and State police responded to Short Beach in Revere. Upon arrival, officers located a brown Pit Bull mix chained to a metal pole located near the shoreline. The dog had a thick metal chain around his neck with a heavy boulder attached to prevent the dog from escaping. The secluded section of the beach is usually submerged at high tide, meaning the dog would have likely drowned had it not been rescued.

A witness on scene stated he observed a male, later identified as Pacheco-Osario chain the dog to the pole 40 minutes prior to police arrival. Video surveillance shows Pacheco-Osario walk down the beach ramp with the dog and does not come back up. Video also shows a metal chain collar and leash attached to the dog are consistent with the collar and chain attached to the dog on scene.

not own any animals during that period

Man gets a pitbull, names it "Killer", tries to slowly drown it, and is allowed to own pets again after a couple of years? That's not right.

Fucker should be banned from owning animals for life, and have to spend a long weekend in a Yankees jersey in colonial era style stocks posted right outside the Bell in Hand and all the other shitshow bars.

Any news on the pup’s new home?

that it also gets a new name. It's not right that it should be named after its former owner.

Any news on the pup’s new home?

Possibly not available, at least in any detail. This was 2021, so by now the dog has probably been placed in a home, but detailed information about his new home won't be available for privacy reasons. Given how calm he seems in the photograph, I'm guessing that he ended up in a good situation.

I loved that photo a year ago and I love it now: after all that dog has been through, the main thing on his mind is mild curiosity about what the cameraperson is doing. Such a good boy indeed.

Which may be why he was sentenced to drowning by that idiot who should never keep pets.

Glad to see him living his best life!

He should have gotten a way stronger punishment than probation and ban from owning animals. This is animal cruelty and is both Felony in the Commonwealth and by Federal Laws. He should have gotten jail time and large fine at minimum. I am glad the dog has an owner who loves him and treats him right now.

This is a great example of how completely defanged the justice system is and the average person in Massachusetts when it comes to protecting yourself from bad people.
