Boston Common kiosk to switch from the Earl of Sandwich to the duchess of baked goods

The city announced today that Joanne Chang's Flour has won a lease to re-open the former Earl of Sandwich kiosk on Boston Common this coming spring.

"We look forward to making Boston Common a sweeter place this spring with our beloved Flour pastries, salads, and sandwiches, as well as new treats exclusive to this location," Chang said.

Work to convert the former sandwich kiosk should begin soon, the city says. The Earl of Sandwich, which shut this year, itself required renovation work to convert what had been a long abandoned men's comfort station into a sandwich kiosk in 2011.

The new location will be Flour's tenth.

Flour is delicious and homegrown local. (If not also pricey.)

The secret to affording Flour is hanging around for the free refill on coffee. And the price falls by a buck if you bring your own mug.

Before they closed, I used to go to that place to get an open-faced club sandwich for lunch.

It's a welcome alternative to Tatte in the area.
