Breakfast and lunch chain eyes Back Bay location

The Boston Sun reports a chain called First Watch, which offers blunchy stuff, is looking at space at 777 Boylston St. for its first Boston location. They'll be seeking a liquor license, because what's breakfast without a bloody Mary?

First Call scheduled opening 1/1/25 at Hanover Crossing, née Hanover Mall site, in unsurprisingly Hanover on the South Shore. It's been under construction a few months now. Promises a seasonal menu changing 5 (?!) times a year.

They have mimosas for the classicists. But I'm tempted to try the Pomegranate Sunrise or Spiked Lavender Lemonade. Blackberry Bramble Sangria seems like a bridge too far.

I’ve been to one near a friends’ house in another state. I didn’t know it was a chain.

Service is great. Food is great. Coffee is fantastic.

I’d prefer a non-chain, but First Watch seems to do things right. At least the one location I’ve been to.
