Farewell to one of my Top 5 favorite Boston players.
He had 187 complete games - more than all active pitchers combined!!!
Loooie was a regular at Boston Bowl too.
He was a decent bowler but a legend on the mound.
And a great part of the fabric of our city.
Thanks for everything
I remember him walking in from the bullpen after warming up, to pitch against the Yankees in '74. Standing O from everyone from first base to the bleachers. He threw a complete game, which was pretty common for Luis, but unheard of today. He won Game 1 in the '75 Series with his parents from Cuba in the stands. What a life. May He Rest in Peace.
Late '70s, I forget who they were playing. He was great, held the other team to one run, but the Yankees were falling down at the plate and they lost it 0-1. Still great game, seats behind third base. I love baseball at any level, but especially when I'm at the park.

You missed out on a lot.
Pure Theater, but at times nearly unhittable

Luis "El Tiante" Tiant, Peter "Rico" Petrocelli, Carl "His friends call him YAZ" Yastrzemski.
El Tiante's moustache lives on on my face. Now I understand why so many people ask if I'm Spanish.
I saw him play in Yankee Stadium
