Man charged with scamming people over room allegedly for rent in Dorchester

Boston Police report arresting a man they say kept taking money from people interested in renting a room in Dorchester he had no intention of actually renting.

Police say Bruno Vieira Ferreira, 23, used Facebook Marketplace to advertise his own room repeatedly:

After collecting payments from victims, Ferreira would provide excuses such as the room not being ready or cease communication altogether. Despite eviction notices from the rental company, Ferreira persisted in advertising the room online and even offered a key to his most recent victim.

Police say the fugitive unit tracked Ferreira to Exeter Street, where he was arrested yesterday afternoon on a charge of larceny over $1,200 by false pretense.
