Mattapan murder victim identified as Stoughton high-school student

Stoughton Public Schools today identified the person fatally shot at Gladeside Avenue and Donwood Terrace in Mattapan yesterday as Christian Cousins, who would have begun his senior year at Stoughton High School this fall.

The school system said the person who was shot with him, who survived, was also a Stoughton High School student. Both were sitting in a car at that intersection when they were shot, police said.

It is never easy to deal with the loss of a student, especially under these circumstances. Our thoughts are with Christian's family, friends, and teachers, as well as the whole Stoughton High community. We are also keeping the other SHS student and their family and friends in our thoughts.

Cousins, 17, was one of two murder victims in Boston yesterday on an unusually violent day in what had become a somewhat quiet city. At least seven people were shot.
