Person hit, killed by outbound Orange Line train at Jackson Square

Boston firefighters responded to the outbound side of the Jackson Square Orange Line station around 12:30 p.m. on a report of a person under the train.

About five minutes later, firefighters called off a specialized "tech rescue" operation because the person was dead. WCVB reports Transit Police say the person stumbled onto the tracks and that foul play is not suspected.

Because of the investigation, the Orange Line remains shut between Ruggles and Forest Hills. The T is running shuttle buses, but is also letting riders get on commuter rail between South Station and Back Bay on one end and Ruggles and Forest Hills at the other.
