Roslindale brewery to close, be replaced by another brewery that will add coffee and food
Distraction Brewing in Roslindale Square announced today that it will shut Aug. 31 - as a new owner works to change it into a brewery that is also a coffeehouse with food.
"The demands of the brewery have been significant, and we want to make the most of the precious years we have left with our family," they wrote, adding that the new owner - Joshua Baker of 13 Volt Brewing and Roasting - hopes to open in 2025 "to include coffee roasting and in-house food."
In their farewell, they added:
We are deeply thankful for the unwavering support we’ve received throughout this journey. From our opening day, through the challenges of the COVID shutdown, and adapting to a can-only takeout operation, your encouragement has meant the world to us. We fondly remember the days we sold out of cans and saw lines forming for contactless pickup. When we were able to reopen for draft service, it was a joy to serve you with grilled cheese sandwiches, pretzels, and zucchini.
The support from Roslindale and the broader beer community has been extraordinary, and we are truly grateful for your energy and enthusiasm. Please join us over the next few weeks to use your gift cards and celebrate with us. We still have time until August 31st to sing, dance, drink, and make wonderful memories together!
