Updated with status of the Clougherty Pool in Charlestown.
WHDH reports the Boston Centers for Youth and Families says it wasn't able to find enough lifeguards to staff pools in the South End, Jamaica Plain and Dorchester. A fifth pool, the Clougherty in Charlestown, will stay closed due to safety issues: Read more.

The mayor's office announced today that a continuing decline in Boston Covid-19 rates and hospitalization means both city libraries and community centers will be able to offer additional in-person services starting next month, although an announcement from City Hall said we'll have to wait for details. BCYF will re-open the Curtis Hall Pool in Jamaica Plain, the Draper Pool in West Roxbury, the Flaherty Pool in Roslindale and the Mason Pool in Dorchester on Wednesday. Read more.

The family of Kyzr Willis, who drowned while at a city-run summer program at Carson Beach last year, is suing Mayor Walsh, the city and individual workers at the program. Read more.

Mayor Walsh said this afternoon the administrator of the Curley Center at Carson Beach is on paid leave as the city investigates both what happened to Kyrzr Willis, 7, and what the city can do to keep kids safe in its summer drop-in and camp facilities.

As if the changes and cuts to Boston's community-center based daycare and pre-kindergarten programming was not enough, it now appears that some additional critical staffing at some community centers is also being cut.
The large community center "clusters," those centers that were joined at the hip for management purposes (2, 3, and 4 buildings in some instances) are cutting their "assistant cluster administrator" position. While that may sound a tad administratively heavy, these people are often the equivalent of a ship's executive officer of "chief of the boat," and are irreplaceable.
