After months of angst, outrage and arrests, neighborhood group asks Whole Foods for, well, nothing

The Globe reports on a meeting between Whole Foods and select members of the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Council:

After the meeting, representatives from the supermarket chain said the neighborhood council did not ask officials from Whole Foods Market to sign a deal, but simply discussed a list of requests and topics.

“To my knowledge, this is the first time we’ve received this type of document from a community,” she said.

So: the Whose Food people really are a bunch of terribly special little snowflakes.

I don't think they're nearly as special as our own little Brettina.

Can we get Pat Roberts to run for the council? She kind of reminds me of Louise Day hicks so she would make the meetings very entertaining.

Could it be the neighborhood council was too embarrassed to actually ask for more money for their affordable housing friends? I thought they had no shame. Maybe they didn't want to be ridiculed further.

the JP Whole Foods will definitely be opening this fall, but members of Whose Foods/Whose Community and avowed Whole Foods opponents are running for seats on the JPNC:

Lord only knows what this means for our community. Will every business that comes to JP be examined by these people to determine whether it's a good "fit" for the neighborhood?

The best thing we can do about the neighborhood council upcoming elections is to ignore them. To vote for these people is to give them credibility, something they don't have now, and never will have. The neighborhood councils were started around 30 years ago by Mayor Flynn. They don't have any real power (thank goodness). They don't perform a useful role in the community. The more we pay attention to them, the more they will believe they are important. We should be asking Mayor Menino to disband this neighborhood council, to end the charade that they mean something.

Mr. Squadrille, one of the Whose Fooders, works at Trader Joe's according to his facebook page. You can't make this stuff up.

Seriously. Meet there for lunch, if it's opening on a Saturday or Sunday, otherwise meet after (or for) dinner. Do we know the opening date yet?

And then we could all bicycle around Jamaica Plain and block intersections.

And then have a flash mob while taking pictures of buiuldings, bitching about cops and having a pillow fight.
