A sad yarn: Knitters could lose another shop

Mind's Eye Yarns in Porter Square is up for sale; if nobody wants to buy it and keep it open, it'll shut down later this spring.

What's left, yarn-wise in Boston/Cambridge/Somerville? Woolcott in Harvard Square has been gone for several years, Circles is also no longer, Windsor is so sadly gone. Is Newbury Yarns still around? There is a new store in Dorchester. Anything else?

The Knittin' Kitten on Blanchard Rd, outside of Alewife. I haven't been there in aaaaages.

and it seems to be doing pretty well.
I, too think it's unfortunate that Lucy's giving up the ghost,
and selling her knitting store, but I wish her all the best of luck, at this stage of her life. There is a yarn store in Brookline Village called Good Yarn, however.
Back in the 1980's and early 1990's, there was a huge knitting store right down in the South Station area (the name of which escapes me at the moment.) that had a huge selection of yarn (every color under the sun), knitting instruction books, as well as patterns and knitting equipment of all kinds, and it was reasonably priced. I don't know whether or not this yarn store down by South Station moved, or just simply went out of business. Too bad, because that was a great knitting store!
South Station yarn store
I remember that knitting store near South Station. It was at the corner of Beach and Lincoln. I used to work right near there in the 80s. Before it became a knitting store it was a large, very short-lived discount candy store. Right in the same area was the now long defunct China Cinema, and the joke/magic shop Hank Lee's Magic Factory, which had a sign in the window that said "miracles for sale".
The South Station Yarn Store--a cool store!
I really liked that store...and I miss it!
