The Dorchester Reporter reports Suzanne Lee will run again this year against District 2 City Councilor Bill Linehan of South Boston.
Lee, a Chinatown resident, beat Linehan in the preliminaries two years ago, but lost to him in the election that really counted - but just by 87 votes.

The Southie dimension is overplayed. Linehan, to his credit, has done a far better job than his predecessors at engaging outside of Southie. And from a politics perspective he has been a realist and a pragmatist. Lee can be counted on to run a good, tough campaign, and she was and is (unsurprisingly) very articulate on the subject of the schools. On other issues, though, she waffled frequently last time out, and vague statements that she made about housing affordability seemed a bit naive and sounded much like a "government's job is local handouts" position that was one of the most annoying aspects of the old time Southie approach - except now from a Chinatown perspective. Thus the yuppies who epitomize the "changing demographics" of the district might well find their interests more aligned with the guy from Southie. Linehan has been focused on the mundane quality of life and constituent service issues that presumably yuppies care much about. Schools remain a topic that will win Lee votes, but yuppies don't really have much interest in shaking down developers to provide more subsidized housing in a neighborhood that has tons of it already.

Where was Suzanne during the debate about BPS school assignment reform? Considering education is supposed to be her strong suit, surprised to see she was completely silent on the subject
