Big help this will be. These people need to stop talking to each other, and go talk to the people who are doing the shooting.

The people doing the shooting don't respect talk, they consider it a sign of weakness.

its become a ritual.

All bark and no bit!

"Bit"?

The thugs shooting each other don't go to these meetings.

Yes but it makes the white suburbanite trust fund social justice kiddies all giddy knowing that they are "helping the community", and after all, isn't that what matters?

You aren't helping the community when you demean people like that.

You do not even know these people. Who are you to judge, or to call them "thugs"? Do you really believe the people who were shot were thugs? Perhaps the shooters, but do not say both sides are thugs! These are human beings! They have families, the same as you and I! You do not know them, or the circumstances. Innocent people are shot or killed every day! Unless, you are God, which you surely ARE NOT do not judge!

Well then, would you please enlighten all of us here as to why those fine young law-abiding fellas were shot? No one said anything about innocent bystanders or robberies gone bad, last time I checked.

I don't think the BPD has said anything about why any of the victims were shot. If you have information, maybe you should call them.

Forget BPD, why do YOU think those people were shot? Do you really think there's a crazed shooter on the loose, or is it the usual gangbanger pissing contest where one happened to get his hands on a gun quicker than the other?

Please do not call the dead and injured "thugs". Did/do you know them? These are human beings with families like you and I. Innocent people are killed everyday all over America. But, unless you know them or the circumstances, you shouldn't be judging anyone. God is the only true judge!

God doesn't exist, but that's besides the point. In any case, there are certainly cases where innocent bystanders are shot. I'd venture to say that it's the distinct minority of cases though. Where there's [gun]fire, there's usually smoke....

God doesn't exist? Ok, why don't you save that for another forum.

Randoms get shot so often in Boston. In our neighborhoods, frequently the circumstances are the wrong place, wrong time, wrong PERSON. How many of the people shot that you know were the intended target? I can list a friend, relative, classmate or student of mine shot every year this past decade and NONE were the intended target, or if they were, they were assumed to be someone else. This happens all the time, do you think someone who is crazy enough to shoot you is going to hesitate once they commit to their action? The answer comes in the blink of an eye.

This upstanding gentleman's contributions to this thread have been to call all residents of JP trust-fund hipsters, and to astutely point out that victims of gun violence had it coming to them. Don't waste your breath.

That's not what I said, so slow your roll. But you are implying the majority of urban gun violence victims are innocent bystanders? Am I understanding that sentiment correctly?

Why is it ok for someone to reference the existence of god everywhere, but when someone refutes it, then all of a sudden it's a huge deal and offensive? Seems like a nice convenient double-standard to me.

In any case, I'm not suggesting that innocent people don't get shot. But why are there chronically violent neighborhoods, houses, businesses that are known to police where this type of violence happens all the time? It's not because of the innocent bystanders that frequent those places.

Ask the BPD gang unit what proportion of the crossfire in the city has links to gangs, from both shooter and victim. Of course you can cite examples that don't fit into that profile, but what proportion of the overall total do those examples comprise?
