Tufts campus locked down after two people found stabbed inside frat
Somerville Police report finding two men stabbed in the neck shortly before 4 a.m. inside the Delta Tau Delta fraternity at 98 Presidents Row in Medford.
Tufts sent an alert urging people to "go to a room, lock door, stay away from windows," but lifted that after a search of the campus failed to find the suspect.
At this time the crime appears to be non-random. Police have completed a search of the campus and the immediate vicinity and are advising that members of the Tufts community may return to their normal activities on the Medford/Somerville campus. There will continue to be an enhanced police presence on campus during the initial investigation.
Police say one victim was 19, the other 20, both are from Boston.

Tufts is now in summer school
Tufts is now in summer school session, so the normal student population is gone and it's a mix of visiting students and Tufts students catching up over the summer. Many times fraternity houses rent out rooms to anyone with the cash during the summer.
Is the state housing the homeless there?
With Long Island shelter closed? Why else the riff raff and stabbings?
Is MarkinArl on Drugs?
Sure. Yeah. Whatever you say. Just don't drive anywhere while hallucinating, okay?
Not so much anymore
While this used to be true, cities and towns have clamped down on the summer rooming. Most restrict summer residents to regular residents or people otherwise affiliated with the school. Of course enforcement may be lacking.
Even in the past (like when I lived in an independent living group in the late 1980s), most houses wouldn't rent out space to randoms anyway - you needed to have some connection (resident, or relative or friend of resident). Otherwise, there were too many problems to make it worth the cash.
Word in Medford is that a party went out of bounds last night. Whether that is true, we shall see.
I don't really mean anyone
I don't really mean anyone off the street, but to summer students not generally affiliated with Tufts and/or the fraternity.
Ever hear of airbnb?
vrbo, HomeAway, FlipKey etc...
Yes
And ...
Its where you rent out to people you don't know
Hence, the practice is growing. The opposite of what you claim.
Well, cities clamping down on
Well, cities clamping down on housing opportunities is one way to make sure housing remains unaffordable around here.
Frats are still a thing?
Figured they would have died out by now.
With such a terrible
With such a terrible reputation, I'm surprised anyone would want to be associated with one. To me it's a red flag. Keep it off your resumes, kids.
The news is reporting that students were involved with the frat stabbing.
Well, one of the issues
is that many of the frats have very strong alumni support (i.e. big donor). I agree that frats and sororities have outlived their usefulness (if they ever had one) but it is not easy to just make them disappear.
The victims are not students.
