Praying people, please pray for a City and these victims.
Our City is on fire this morning.

It's been the same three neighborhoods for decades. Don't generalize, it doesn't help in addressing the issue.

Try a half century.

Dorchester, Roxbury and Mattapan are absolutely a problem, yes, but that's not to say parts of JP, Spanish Eastie, and the projects in Southie don't have semi-common shootings/stabbings as well.

Mt Auburn St in Cambridge? Don't kid yourself.

Hun, shootings can happen anywhere at anytime. I'm pretty sure he's talking about where shootings are common.

Guy, where have you been for the past o say, 50 years?

While we are on the subject of praying, I have seen a lot of so called Men Of God who say they have an in on talking with these men of violence decide that they can also try to shake down commuter rail operators in the name of avoiding "trouble" in the "community".

Picking up a gun and using it is a clearly thought out method of operation and a lifestyle choice.

Praying to Allah, God or the Flying Spaghetti Monster will change nothing. I have found that picking up books, getting a job, and being a wee law abiding helps the cause more than glocking it. That seems to get lost on a lot of people.

Don't give me it is different in the hood either. There is drug dealing and related activity everywhere. It seems violence seems to pop up more outside of or the result of actors from Bromley Heath and Academy Homes more than say other drug riddled places like Weymouth, Lynn, Braintree, or any of scores of small cities and towns around here.

One of the commuter rail shakedowners was quoted as saying that he has no real problem with the drug dealing, just stop being so violent about it. Don't make noise to attract the cops. When that happens he said, you get the suburbs, and less people with holes in them.

There is a bit of a difference between a densely packed city and a suburb. If a rival drug dealer lives down the hall from you there is gonna be more conflict than if he lives 3 miles away.

Closeness to a business rival. That's a justifiable excuse for gun play? With that logic CVS and Walgreens should make the corner of School and Washington the black hole of Calcutta.

There's no logical justification for the gunplay in this city.

I Agree.

In areas where gun violence and murders are occurring, stronger measures are needed to get the illegally owned weapons off the street and send a message that the rules are changing in favor of people that want to improve where they live, not move and let the evildoers win,

I'm tired of reading and hearing about...Home Invasions, Armed Robberies, Car Jackings, Pistol Whippings, Murders...
What about decent folks, children living with Sounds of Gun Shots, Shot Spotters,Shell Casings and Sirens, scared to sit or sleep near a window.....Homicides detectives asking questions?.....

I live in that neighborhood, was awake and did not hear the shots. I did hear sirens in the distance. And there is no way someone near Jackson Sq would be close enough to hear the shots--it's just too far.

There is a shot spotter system on top of the Mendell school across the street from where this supposedly took place. I'm sure the police know if the shots were fired on School St or if the victims drove there after. That happened in the same spot a couple years back--the victim was shot elsewhere and claimed it happened there but the police knew it could not have happened there due to the shot spotter.

I'd be very interested to hear an update on this story.

Because the initial BPD response was based on 911 calls from people reporting gunfire in the area of Egleston and School.

I live 150 feet away. There were 5 shots fired quickly on school st at 11:35ish.

I guess I just missed them. I must have been too distracted at the time watching CNN and trying to figure out how quickly the world is going to hell in a handbasket (between ISIS and the ineviatable looming disaster of a Trump or Clinton presidency) to have noticed the death and distruction in my close proximity.
