BosBattle reports on how our own Keytar Bear became a character in a phone game produced by a Sega subsidiary that is based in Cambridge.

One key(tar) difference between real life and the game: In the game, Crazy Taxi Gazillionaire, he plays a taxi driver, rather than Boston's furriest street musician.

If he hasn’t signed a contract, a lawsuit for use of name and likeness is the same for any public figure, from Prince and Hendrix to Keytar Bear. Get a lawyer! Here’s hoping he’ll get the money while he’s alive. That’s VIDEO GAME money, son!

WILL: Yeah. We worked with Keytar Bear to make sure he was happy with our portrayal [editor’s update: Will said in a follow-up email that Keytar Bear was paid for his likeness]. (Though we didn’t talk to his keytar – you might notice that the pattern of white/black keys is a little off.)
