Dry undershirt in pouring rain gave away South End gunfire suspect, police say

Boston Police report arresting a Roxbury man Saturday morning by officers investigating gunfire and an attempted murder in the area of Emerald Court, off Shawmut Avenue.

Police say officers didn't find anybody suspicious there when they arrived shortly after 8 a.m., but that a few blocks away, they spotted a guy in Ringgold Park wearing only what appeared to be a still dry white undershirt in the pouring rain.

Further investigation led to officers discovering the male suspect’s sweatshirt underneath an orange traffic drum as well as a firearm in the lock back position indicating the rounds it contained had been fired.

Back at Emerald Court, police say, officers found evidence of gunfire. Jamaal Gross-Christie, 20, of Roxbury, was charged with assault with intent to murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, police say.

Innocent, etc.
