In Cambridge raid, wanted men arrested, weapons and drugs seized, stolen dog recovered

It was four for the price of one yesterday when State and Cambridge police raided a Franklin Street apartment to look for one wanted man, found him and a second wanted man and then arrested two other men as well.

Also seized, police say: A Keltec Sub 2000 9mm collapsible rifle and 30 rounds for it, a pistol, a ballistic vest and cocaine, meth and marijuana all packaged for distribution.

Additionally, a dog was found within the apartment during the initial entry and identified by a Detective with the Cambridge Police as recently being stolen from a homeless couple that stays in the Cambridge area. The Cambridge Police Department took custody of the pitbull and made arrangements with Cambridge Animal Commission to reunite the owners with their dog. Shortly thereafter, Oreo was reunited with its owners.

Cambridge Police say they, State Police and Somerville and Lynn Police all cooperated on a search that began in June for Matthew Haley, 26, wanted fo violating parole on an assault-and-battery sentence.

That search, they say, led them to unit 213 at 216 Franklin St.

Armed with a search warrant, officers from State and local police and the ATF made their way into the apartment yesterday morning:

As they did so, Troopers and Officers outside holding a perimeter observed two men come onto the third floor porch. One of the men, identified as Haley, climbed over the railing and began climbing down toward the ground.

Also charged: Quintin Hardy, 32, for being a fugitive from justice from New Hampshire, which wants him with narcotics sales, and which just this week named him "Fugitive of the Week," in part because he'd been on the lam for two years.

He was also charged with new Massachusetts offenses: Illegal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, illegal possession of a loaded firearm, possession of body armor during the commission of a felony, possession of a large capacity rifle, possession of a large capacity feeding device, possession of Class B substances with intent to distribute, and possession of a Class D substance with intent to distribute.

Standly Miranda, 26, and Dante Conner, 20, were also arrested, on charges of illegal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, illegal possession of a loaded firearm, possession of body armor during the commission of a felony, possession of a large capacity rifle, possession of a large capacity feeding device, possession of Class B substances with intent to distribute, and possession of a Class D substance with intent to distribute.

Innocent, etc.

I believe it's a Kel Tec, it's not some traditional Celtic weapon.

There'd be the gun humpers rushing in to properly educate people on the spelling of a gun.

Hopefully now this thread descends into a frothing back and forth screaming match over exactly what "AR" stands for.

... for not shooting the dog, which appears to be SOP in a lot of jurisdictions.

I parked in front of that very building yesterday afternoon to take the subway from Central Square to Downtown Crossing. In hindsight, I might have been safer in Downtown Crossing.
