Teen dragged several blocks at high speed through Dorchester by men in a car who first robbed him, police say

UPDATE: High bail set in Dorchester dragging case.

A teenager remains in critical condition at a local hospital tonight after a robbery Friday night that ended with the robbers closing their car window on his arm, which kept him trapped outside the car as they sped down Gallivan Boulevard at a high rate of speed for several blocks - at one point even blasting through a red light - State Police say.

Police found the teen, unconscious and near death, on Gallivan Boulevard, near Nevada Street.

State Police say they arrested both men involved in the robbery - Kenneth Ford, 23, of Roxbury and Dejon Barnes, 18, of Dorchester - at a West End party early today.

According to State Police, the victim met with the two men on Gallivan Boulevard late Friday with a smart phone the two claimed they wanted to buy. They stayed in the car - one rolled down his window - as the victim negotiated with them through the window.

During the interaction between the two men in the car and the victim, who was on foot, the suspects hooked the victim’s arm in the car by closing the car window on the arm, and then drove off at a high rate of speed, dragging the victim alongside the moving car for several city blocks.

Evidence indicates that the suspect vehicle passed through a red light at the intersection with Washington Street and continued to travel away from the initial scene. The victim was located on the ground on Gallivan Boulevard, just prior to Nevada Street, unresponsive with severe injuries.

Barnes and Ford were initially charged with unarmed robbery, but will likely face additional charges, State Police say.

Innocent, etc.

When will good decent people wake up to the scourge of evil that lurks in nearly every major city? This isn't a crime of petty robbery, it's a complete disdain for another human being...

That's horrible! Here's hoping that the victim has a full speedy recovery, and that the guys who did that to him get tried for, charged with their crimes, and then thrown into the slammer for a long time. That was a vicious crime that those guys committed.

I know that when BPD releases its crime reports that crime is down in the city. My question is if you add all the crime stats compiled on state property, the MBTA and all the college campuses is crime really down in the city?

Why you should never buy a phone from a stranger off the street. Exhibit #2

A somewhat similar setup happened in front of my building in Fields Corner a couple of months ago and was captured by my webcam. A guy who pretended to be living in my building (he doesn't) was supposedly selling 3 I-phones on behalf of this brother to someone who was waiting for him inside his car. He tried to rob the guy inside the car, but the guy in the car managed to take off without anybody getting hurt it seems. It could have ended up much worse.

The next day I picked up the shopping bag that the scammer had abandoned on the street after his failed attempt. Inside, there was a weird assembly of random packaging including, appropriately enough, some empty Cheetos packaging. That's what got me curious to find out how it got there, review the footage and find out about the incident.

It should be viewable at the link below -with sound volume all the way up to understand what they are saying.
