A Dorchester Municipal Court judge released State Trooper Matthew Hickey with no bail at his arraignment today on charges of assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon stemming from a fight outside Dorset Hall on Neponset Avenue on Dec. 1, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.
Hickey is charged with attacking a woman outside the bar as the culmination of an argument that started inside shortly before closing time. The dangerous weapon at question was his "shod foot." Hickey has been suspended with pay since the incident, in which Boston Police allege he kicked the woman hard enough to fracture her tibia.
The DA's office had asked for bail of $1,000. Judge James Stanton did order Hickey to stay away from both the victim and the bar.
