Marty Walsh pulls over on 93 to help motorist whose car had burst into flames

Marty Walsh on the side of I-93

On the way home after the Patriots parade this evening, Mayor Walsh spotted a car on fire on the Expressway. The Boston Fire Department reports Hizzona stayed with the driver until firefighters could arrive to douse the flames.

Anybody remember the time there was a fire in the Pru tower and Ray Flynn ran up the stairs towards it?

I believe he carried a woman down several flights of stairs.

It would be highly unusual for any Boston Mayor to "pull over" or be driving at all. Since there's no mention of the traditional 24/7/365 Boston Police security detail that guards and drives every Mayor, Walsh must have ditched him. When seconds count, the police are minutes away. Or else the police didn't make it into the press release.

I thought he got driven around by somebody in an SUV, like Menino.

But I guess this is a reason to be glad he never takes public transit home?

I bet the driver of the auto-da-fe wished that they had taken public transit.

Yes, to ride the T with hundreds of loud drunk passengers that took an extra hour due to over capacity was
Hell on Earth. Driving in yesterday was the smart choice.

The Orange Line was fine.

Man, I can't believe I just typed that, but it's true.

Walsh is regularly driven around by BPD, in what can only be described as a complete waste of money and a way to insulate himself from the great unwashed masses he supposedly represents.

Was it a complete waste of money and a way to insulate from the great unwashed massed supposedly represented when Tom Menino was driven around by the BPD?

Heck, I remember once having to pull over when the Menino detail car flew by with it lights on and sirens screaming on a Sunday morning. And it should be noted that it they were heading towards Readville.

Yes, it was. And it is a waste of money when Baker is shuttled around by the police too.

And I do agree, though there are times when a car and driver should be provided.

As you see, it gets me when a politician is attacked for doing whatever when his/her predecessor did the exact same thing in a way that makes it look like they are the first ones doing it. I hate to make the discussion more national, but it does happen with national political figures, too.

was a Mayor for the working people, the poor, middle class and not so fortunate citizens. Marty? Not so much, in fact the complete opposite.

What did Mahty "help" with? Did he pull over to recap the parade with the motorist?

Is the driver BPD was told to pull over by the Mayor.
Good job Mayor

Stay in your car and go home, Marty.

If it was a genuine act of kindness we wouldnt have heard about or saw pictures of it.

Hes such a clown.

The mayor had his BPD driver pull the guy over after they noticed sparks flying out from under the car.

He'll care this much about pedestrians being killed by motorists.

The mayor gets on 93 to go home?

Anyone know where this was?

93 to Neponset Circle or Granite Avenue for his commute?
