I hope that people will remember this when the next Prop 2 1/2 override comes out with the usual wailing about cutting fire fighters. Sounds like there is at least one Cambridge Jake who needs to be fired.

I like reading this stuff, and hope it works out for the restaurant. But who is Marc Levy? It seems like he has as much of an ax to grind as Courtney and Dietrich.

And he has been writing about Cambridge for several years now. If he has an axe to grind, I suspect it's because he's actually been going to the ABCC hearings where this has all been playing out.

Why? Did the restaurant at some point refuse to pay for a detail from either the Cambridge fire or police departments?

At least Boston police and fire department just prevents you from getting permits if you don't let them wet their beaks in your cash.

Cambridge police have a reputation for acting above the law. The reputation precedes the absurd incident with Henry Louis Gates.

Hey Cambridge City Council: When your police and fire fighters act outside the law why should I risk even going into Cambridge? Want my Boston money? Show that you know how to keep control of your supposed law enforcement.

Was there an actual criminal charge in court regarding threats? (MGL 275 s. 2-4) I mean it isn't a crime to do any of the things listed regardless of the semantics of what was said here.

No criminal charges, the city just used a criminal statute to bring civil charges against the business owner, with no supporting evidence.

It's nice the restaurant owners are casting some light on how dirty Cambridge government is. I don't blame the lawyers, because shysters are paid to argue any damn thing, no matter how stupid, but it sure seems like it's time to retire police commissioner Branville G. Bard, deputy fire chief Gerard Mahoney, license director Elizabeth Lint, commission chairwoman Nicole "the law is what I say it is" Murati Ferrer, and anybody else actively participating in this mendacious shakedown from public service. They should all be ashamed of themselves.

I sympathize with some of the public servants caught up in this. It's got to be hard to continue with honor when you're given corrupt orders.

Now the Cambridge City Council will pass an ordinance making it illegal to threaten to sue anybody. Thanks Adam!

As someone who pays taxes into the Cambridge coffers, is there some place we can draw more attention to this than UHub and that website? This is an embarrassment and a waste of tax dollars. None of these people should be employed with public funds any more.
