Two arrested on gun charges for Harvard Square shelter-in-place incident
Cambridge Police report arresting a Dorchester man and a Lynn woman for a gun display during a Harvard Square altercation that led Harvard to tell students and staff to stay off the streets yesterday afternoon.
After allegedly causing all that ruckus, Chayanne Velazquez, 28, of Dorchester, and Stephanie Ford, 25, of Lynn, were arrested down Mass. Ave. at the Central Square Chipotle, police say.
According to police:
The call was initially received at approximately 3:20 p.m. in the area of 36 JFK Street/The Garage. A man reportedly lifted his shirt and showed a gun, which was located in his waistband, to a group of men following a verbal altercation.
Police say the two were arrested after officers found a gun in Ford's backpack.
Velazquez was chared with assault with a dangerous weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm, police say, adding Ford was charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license.
Innocent, etc.
