Police: Man tries to rob Brinks worker servicing a South Station ATM

Flynn

Transit Police report arresting Daniel Flynn, 50, on charges he tried to grab some fast cash from a Brinks employee working on an ATM in the South Station commuter-rail waiting area around 3:10 p.m. on Wednesday.

Flynn informed the Brinks employee words to the effect " This is a robbery" and threatened to shoot him if he did not turn over US Currency.

Rather than complying, however, the Brinks worker "created distance" and summoned police - who found Flynn running down Summer Street in front of the old Stone & Webster building right next door to South Station. Officers arrested him on a charge of armed assault with intent to rob, police say.

Innocent, etc.

But we closed the mental hospitals and dumped these folks into the streets, subway, shelters, jails, prisons. It's horrendous.

Out of sight, out of mind.

What we need is decent housing and health care for these people and everyone. Homelessness aggravates psychological problems for most sufferers and sometimes creates them in others.

But for the grace of that mythical creature in the sky, go all of us.

Why didn’t the Brinks worker draw his firearm?

unless you're ready for someone to die. And perhaps that seemed unlikely to be necessary given the information available to the Brinks employee (e.g. he was sure the threat was false).
