Two arrested for June shooting on Brook Marshall Road in Roxbury

Boston Police report arresting two men in recent days on charges they shot a man at 20 Brook Marshall Rd., off Ruggles St., around 6:30 p.m. on June 29.

The victim survived, police say.

Officers arrested Jeavoni Celester-Thistle, 20, of Roxbury, on Wesminster Court in Roxbury around 11:20 this morning after "a violent struggle," police say.

Celester-Thistle was arrested on a warrant charging him with armed assault with intent to murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition, police say. After the struggle, and after a search that yielded "a loaded .380 caliber Bryco Arms handgun," several loose bullets and "a plastic bag containing 17 small plastic bags of crack cocaine," he was also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, second and subsequent, unlawful possession of ammunition, assault and battery on a police officer and possession of Class B drugs with intent to distribute, as well as being a Level 1 armed career criminal, which could mean a longer sentence if he is convicted on the other offenses.

Celester-Thistle had previously been arrested in 2017 and 2019 on gun charges in Roxbury.

A second man, whom police did not identify, was arrested Saturday at 26 Boston St. in Dorchester in connection with the shooting, police say.

Wow, arrested three separate times in less than three years for illegally possessing a firearm--not including any crimes he did before he turned 18 because those records aren't public.
