No more 24-hour voting in Cambridge as city seeks to secure drop boxes

The Cambridge Election Commission announced today it will have the city's six ballot drop boxes locked between 8 p.m and 7 a.m. as one measure to prevent a recurrence of the arson attack that destroyed ballots across the river outside the Copley Square library.

Cambridge election workers will also empty the drop boxes more frequently and Cambridge Police will check on the boxes more frequently.

In addition to dropping off mail-in ballots at the drop boxes, residents can vote early at three locations until Oct. 30.

More details on locations.

You've made it ever so slightly harder to vote somewhere, even if that wasn't your goal.

I bet, especially in Cambridge, if they had called for volunteers to guard the boxes overnight, they would have had plenty of takers. As the previous poster correctly noted, the Copley incident ended up having a wider, negative effect, which is worrisome.

What a remarkable flip-flop evolution by far-left Cambridge, only after a ballot box containing 35 ballots was torched in a heavily Democrat precinct by an apolitical person in nearby Boston. When the loosening of Cambridge voting regulations means a potential loss of more Democrat votes, they suddenly "tap the brakes" if you will. All this to prop up feeble Biden? It would take a heart of stone not to laugh.

How do the lead paint chips taste in that glass house you’re living in, Fish?

The only competitive item on Cambridge ballots this election is Question 2. Everything else is decided already.
