Suspect in multiple armed robberies arrested after stealing Amazon van in Dorchester, police say

Boston Police report arresting a man wanted in multiple armed robberies thanks to the way an Amazon driver left his phone in his van while making a delivery yesterday afternoon.

Police say Edwin Powell, 46, a suspect in a number of armed robberies since September, was running down the middle of Dorchester Avenue near Welles Avenue towards St. Marks Road around 1:45 p.m.

The male entered a gray mini van and fled the area. Additional units arrived on scene and spoke to a victim who stated his van had been stolen with his cell phone inside. Detectives tracked the phone to the area of Callender Street and Floyd Street where the located the van occupied by the suspect, Edwin Powell. The male was taken into custody. Officers also recovered numerous Amazon packages inside of the common hallway of the suspect’s residence.

Powell was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and larceny over $1,200, police say, adding he was already wanted on nine counts of armed robbery while masked.

Innocent, etc.

Anyone else in Dot check to see if they had any pending Amazon orders after reading this? :-) Glad to see the suspect was apprehended. Armed robbery is a serious crime.

Driver should be fired for leaving his vehicle running and unattended. In my job that is a gigantic no no.
