WBZ reports a Hudson man already facing assault-and-battery charges for an apparent road-rage incident in Belmont that sent his opponent to the hospital Tuesday afternoon could face more charges now that his victim has died.

Separately, Boston Police officers investigating an argument over trash barrels in Dorchester that ended when one man allegedly pulled out a gun found a mini-arsenal in the man's house when they returned with a search warrant.

Police say two men got into an argument outside 31 Brookview St. around 9 a.m. on Tuesday, something about the barrels, when one of the verbal jousters displayed a gun. Arriving officers arrested him on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon, then "froze" his house so they could apply for a search warrant.

After they got the warrant, they went in and found "a Sig Sauer 1911 .45 Caliber Semi-Automatic Firearm, an FTL Marketing Corp Auto Nine .22 Caliber Pistol, four magazines and seventy-eight rounds of ammunition."

Police did not identify the man, except to say he is 41.

Adam, I believe it was the Boston man who died and the Hudson man who is under arrest. It's not his first brush with the law.

Withrop Police Blotter 09-16-2010
Dean Kapsalis, 43, of Hudson, was arrested on an outstanding warrant after a Cambridge probation officer requested warrant service for a bracelet violation.

Thanks.

I didn't see that info online. Something else rage-related I assume.

He drove his car into someone he had just been in a verbal argument with, and that person died. How is that not just plain murder? It's no different than if he shot or stabbed him. Throw the book at this anti social person.

Alas, people get all violent even when motor vehicles are not involved.

Here's the thing, people get all sorts of crazy about things, and they just have blind rage and go from there. And in addition to how you react to anything involving automobiles, we have these two incidents Adam shared with us.

Some people go crazy more easily and often than others.

Accordingly, we restrict access (licenses) to guns for those who seem more likely to abuse them. Almost everyone agrees with this approach.

Likewise, autos can be easily and are frequently used to cause death. But we do not make people jump through any hoops to get access to autos (I did not leave the parking lot for my driving test. I have never had to re-demonstrate any skill.) And we do not revoke that access unless they have about 8 DUIs.

Why? Because that right of drive a car in America is written into our Constitution in invisible ink.

There is a problem here. And it's not Kinopio.

Should we ban garbage cans now?

If you think garbage cans "can be easily and are frequently used to cause death," then yes. In which case, you should contact your reps about regulating the possession and use of them as a first step.

As a second step, check yourself into a facility.

If they do, then we should probably at least consider limiting their use, yeah.

The Belmont thing struck me as kind of odd- in that I assumed one or both people in that incident were residents/ local to that area since that's a pretty heavily residential area and neither was (Hudson and Boston peroper)

To amend my previous statement- saw on WCVB/ 5 that the victim had some sort of family tie in that neighborhood

Is this dog whistle speak for... “Well what was the victim doing in Belmont?”

Belmont is kind of in the way of getting from a lot of point As to a lot of point Bs. I never had any interest in anything in Belmont beyond Ohlin's and Rancs, but I have driven through it hundreds of times.

That is true- but if you look at the map- this happened a little off the A-to-B routes- was reported that victim Henry Tapia had a family connection in that area

To be fair, it is annoying when people are too lazy to put their trash or dog waste either in the city barrels or to bring it home, instead of throwing it into someone else's recycling bins.

Not worth introducing a firearm into the discussion though.

Doesn't merit gunplay.

mini-arsenal

Really? How about a little less dramatic license in reporting Adam, in the future please leave that on MSNBC.

Really? How about use a dictionary and look up the definition of arsenal and then admit you are wrong.

Come on, man. You know what was implied by the language and are splitting hairs over the semantics of the dictionary definition. Be better than the "well ackshuallyyy" types.

“Mini-arsenal” accurately describes how they’ve played this season.

Kapsalis has been cited for speeding at least 17 times, was involved in at least 7 surcharge crashes, and had his right to drive suspended at least six times, usually for a cluster of traffic violations in a short period of time, according to RMV records.

If the RMV did their job and terminated this criminals license his victim would likely still be alive.

He should be charged with murder. If he isn't, the only possible reason is that he used a car as the weapon. Car culture is sick. This is indefensible.
