Hotel on Huntington Avenue sure does get around

Hotel in Sacramento that's really the Midtown Hotel in Boston

Something familiar about this Sacramento scene.

Charles Dennison IV was watching an episode of "Mr. Mayor" that involves a trip to Sacramento when he noticed an oddly familiar "Sacramento" hotel.

Roughly similar view from Google that will help you place it. Wonder if the Sacramento hotel is also slated to be replaced?

Terrible geography. My favorite was the seaport in Stoughton.

I liked Fringe's story line

But as a Bostonian, I really barfed at their idea of what Metro Boston is like.

My fav was where they were able to go back to 1985, and walk thru Harvard square. Which didnt look like Harvard Square at all.. none.

And of course they forgot that in 1985, Harvard Square was a construction zone due to the Alewife Extension construction.

But nah, in their version of Harvard Square 1985, its green and sunny, and quiet.

If I learned anything from the last 2 seasons of Dawson's Creek, it's that Wilmington, NC may actually be a cooler city than Boston.

Omg I could not watch that show - it was HELL.

My dad and aunt would watch it and I would just have to leave the room. Torture to see random interchanging of Portland, OR and areas of Boston that I was working in. ARRRRGGGGHHHH!

Given the lane markings looked pretty new on the 2011 and were pretty much gone by 2014 (per Streetview) … looks like it's an old piece of stock footage.

A Ted Danson show has a Boston exterior shot in it.

Of course it does.

I'm sure they used it because the Midtown Hotel has such a distinctive mid-20th Century look of the type that is practically extinct now. I love that look, but I don't think the hotel will be around much longer.

So in some ways it could be anywhere.

Why would a show set, and presumably filmed, in the world capital of TV production use a city at the other end of the country for a location shot?

If all you need is an exterior shot of a motel at night, it's a lot easier (and cheaper) to go to your footage library for something that looks mostly right than to go out and film something new. Most people probably won't even notice, anyway.

to the right of the entry? It’s blurry but I can almost make out the state seal. If so maybe the stock shot was from the pre-photoshop age.
