Transformer explodes in West Roxbury, hundreds lose power

Around 10:30 p.m. at 200 Park St., near Anawan Street.

Patty Neal saw, and smelled, the aftermath:

Pretty sure we just saw a transformer blow down the street in West Roxbury. The sky turned pink and we can smell smoke in the air.

Eversource's outage map shows 1,101 homes and businesses are now without power.

This same transformer exploded a few years ago. I've never heard of transformers exploding elsewhere in the city and now twice in the same spot??
